Acne is condition that affects the skin. It is brought about when your hair follicles are clogged with oil and cells from dead skin.  This condition can affect anyone but most cases reported are of young adults. This clogging causes the appearance of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and painful pus-filled lumps on the skin.

The most commonly affected area is the face. Other parts of the body that are can be affected include the forehead and back. Acne can cause a lot of emotional distress to the affected. All this depends on the severity of the condition.

If the condition is mild, some simple homemade remedies can be recommended. The use of essential oils should be the first form of treatment.

The main reason why it is advised to try essential oils in the treatment of acne is that essential oils not only feed the skin with loads of vitamins but are good with relieving stress hormones.

The best way to use these essential oils to cure acne is by diluting it with a carrier oil like prickly pear seed oil. These carrier oils will reduce the strength of the essential oils minimizing the chances of getting skin irritations from very concentrated essential oils.

Below are some of the most effective essential oils you can use to treat acne.

Tea tree oil is one of the most effective essential oils that can be used to treat acne. Acne is largely brought about by excess bacteria and clogged pores. With tea tree’s antibacterial and antifungal properties, bacteria on the skin will be killed and the occurrence of acne will be greatly minimized.

Tea tree oil can be used as a spot treatment for acne or you can prevent possible acne appearance by combining it with your day to day moisturizer.

Lavender is another essential oil that can be used to effectively fight off acne. It is known to soothe and heal the skin, reducing dark spots and encouraging cell rejuvenation.

Lavender is also known to reduce stress levels which further reduce the chances of hormonal breakouts. This oil is more effective on people that experience acne due to hormonal imbalances as compared to people that experience it due to clogged pores and bacteria.

Juniper berry essential oil is a very effective oil due to its antibacterial benefits.  It can is best utilized when included in one’s daily skincare routine. This significantly reduces the number of breakouts likely to happen on a daily basis.

It can also be combined with your favorite moisturizer in order to effectively destroy bacteria that may be trapped at the pores of your skin. This can also be diluted by a carrier oil such as coconut oil so as to avoid any irritations when applied directly to the skin.

The above are just but a few of the essential oils that may treat acne. There are cases where these essential oils will not clear the acne. Do not be tempted to use nonprescription acne lotions and skincare products. They may cause serious reactions. In such instances, it is highly advised to seek medical help from a certified dermatologist.
